SNV is looking for new Supervisory Board Members
SNV has initiated a recruitment procedure for Supervisory Board members as the sitting term of certain members expires in July 2008. The Supervisory Board supervises SNV’s policies and their implementation. The SB fulfils the role of “sounding board” for the BoD when it comes to policy decisions. A minimum of five (5) members and no more than seven (7) members can take seat in the SB. Annually, the Supervisory Board evaluates the BoD and, in addition to this, evaluates its own added value and continuity.
SNV advocates private sector involvement at 'The Night of the UN' event
The Hague - 25 October 2007. SNV director Dirk Elsen has advocated a more active involvement of the private sector in sustainable development at 'The Night of the United Nations' event on 24 October in Amsterdam. "Strong Public Private Partnerships with a focus on the poorest groups are needed to combat poverty", Elsen stated. He participated in a round table 'Poverty Debate' with NGO's, journalists and opinion leaders who discussed major hick ups in combatting poverty alleviation. In the lively discussion he highlighted the concept of Inclusive Business which has been developed by a joint Partnership of SNV and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). Elsen: "Through the Inclusive Business way of working, poor communities, can be involved in business, not only as consumers, but also as employees, suppliers and small investors. This group can be strengthened so that they can look after their own economic interests, effectively. This concept works."
